A goods train hit the Sealdah-bound Kanchanjunga Express in West Bengal's Darjeeling district on June 17th.

9 people died, including passengers and railway staff. 41 others were injured, with 9 seriously hurt.

The collision caused the last 3 carriages of the Kanchanjunga Express to derail.

The accident happened near Rangapani station, about 30 km from New Jalpaiguri. 

Prime Minister offered condolences and well-wishes for the injured. 

Railway Minister visited the site and ordered a probe into the cause.

Financial aid will be provided to the families of the deceased and injured. 

Rescue operations are now finished.
